THANKSGIVING – THE CAUSE OF FOOD COMAS
It’s around that time of year, when we are in the snug mood getting ready for upcoming holidays. Thanksgiving. I associate it with coziness, comfort, warmth, treats, and joy. Personally, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! What can be better than eating amazing homemade food, spending some quality time with family, and starting shopping at around 4 a.m. the following day?
Let’s talk about the best part of Thanksgiving and well, life in general – FOOD. In fact, Thanksgiving is all about food, isn’t it? Also, it is a pretty legit excuse for slipping into a food coma that better be caused by some bomb healthy food, not some processed garbage. There are a lot of healthy recipes floating around. I want to share a gourmet recipe (Baked Nutty Pears) that’s not too popular and stands out among other typical recipes. There is too much added sugar out there already – just think of those corn loaves, cranberry sauce, pumpkin & apple pies. The Baked Nutty Pears have no added sugar, yet they may even beat a pumpkin pie in taste.
HEALTH BENEFITS OF THE BAKED NUTTY PEARS

- Pears are rich in fiber, high in vitamin C and copper, and have low glycemic index, which is great for those with diabetes.
- Honey is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
- Cinnamon reduces blood sugar, having anti-inflammatory properties, and fighting against HIV.
- Walnuts are rich in omega-3 fats and help brain function.
I LOVE YOU, HONEY
Honey in this recipe plays an important role and can make or break the taste of Baked Nutty Pears. When choosing honey, avoid junk and use the raw version because it is minimally processed. Be careful though, raw honey can taste really gross and yucky, depending on a brand. My all times favorite is 100% Pure, Raw and Unfiltered Honey by Nature Nate’s because it tastes unbelievably delicious and is super healthy. It is worth every penny! (Disclosure: I thoroughly test every product I review and the opinions expressed here are my own. I’ll be compensated at no cost to you if you purchase a product through one of the links, but I in no way allow that to impact my reviews.)
A sophisticated, yet simple, sweet, yet refined sugar free dessert. Yum yum!
Baked Nutty Pears will make your house smell miraculously good. Make sure it is the last thing you bake, so your guests get to smell it. To make the dessert more Thanksgiving-ish, just add some cranberries. Happy Holidays and good luck hunting for the best deals on Black Friday!
