Plan your indulgence desserts. They should not be a spur of the moment decision.
What so many of us have in common? A sweet tooth. That goddamned sweet tooth that is like a demon taking our hands and walking us through the sugary journey of picking – purchasing – indulging – waking up from a sugar crush caused by desserts. So many people fall into this trap over and over. Everyone knows – sugar is harmful and addictive, yet people have hard times avoiding it. Personally, I quit refined sugar 10 months ago and it feels amazing. It’s so much easier for me to go cold turkey rather than controlling the amounts of sugar consumption. I’ll publish a post about my Going Sugar Free Journey down the road, so subscribe to get notified when it goes live.
All of the desserts below are not healthy, and I don’t recommend including them in your diet. They are processed, have a low nutritional value, and are high in sugar. Nevertheless, many people think that it’s too extreme to absolutely exclude sugar from the diet, and they’d rather enjoy having unhealthy treats once in a while in a form of cheat meal. There is nothing wrong with that. If you are one of those people, this post is for you! Here is a collection of the yummiest mouth-watering desserts that I used to gorge on before I quit sugar.
Warning: these desserts are way too delicious and addictive.
But, come on, you gotta try ’em if you are planning a cheat meal.
GELATO BY TALENTI
I’d die for it! If you are planning a cheat day for your diet, Talenti Gelato is an ultimate choice! It has less air than ice-cream, which makes it more dense and flavors get more intense. Also, it has a good amount of chunks – chocolate chips, caramel etc. I was so obsessed with this product that I’d purchase it once a week religiously and eat… THE WHOLE PINT while walking downtown or studying in the library. Yes, I was that bad. But, come on, I dare you to resist after trying it. My favorite flavor was Sea Salt Caramel, least favorite – Coffee Chocolate Chip. They have 33 flavors including Coconut, Banana, Key Lime Pie, Peppermint, and Blood Orange, so you’ll definitely find something for yourself. This awesomesauce can be found at CVS, Walmart, Ralphs, and Target for $4.50 on average.
KINDER CHOCOLATE BARS
This chocolate tastes like heaven. It’s orgasmic – the best chocolate in my life. The best chocolate in the universe indeed, in case aliens have chocolate factories. I had a hard time finding Kinder in the U.S. groceries, and I was so stoked to find it on Amazon. If I had to describe it in one word, that would be Q – Quality. The highest quality of smooth milk chocolate with milk center melting in your mouth. You must try it at least once in your life, seriously. You can find it on Amazon for $3.50 a pack, and you can also get a deal: 10 packs (80 bars) for $15.80 + Free Shipping. If you go with this deal, be careful – temptation to tuck into all of those unbelievable bars at once will be huge. Kinder is produced by Italian company Ferrero that is known for their stellar chocolate spread – Nutella. (Disclosure: I thoroughly test every product I review and the opinions expressed here are my own. I’ll be compensated at no cost to you if you purchase a product through one of the links, but I in no way allow that to impact my reviews.)
MIKAWAYA MOCHI ICE-CREAM
Creamy and rich ice-cream wrapped into sweet chewy mochi dough. Yum! So, one time a long while ago I was walking down the Trader Joe’s frozen foods aisle looking for ice-cream (yes, I wasn’t as health conscious my entire life as I’m today,) and I noticed this mochi ice-cream by Mikawaya. How did I like it? Well, 6 mochi balls disappeared in a few minutes. Since then, I’ve started ordering this dessert at Japanese restaurants, but nothing could beat those Americanized huge size and taste. My favorite flavor was Strawberry, least favorite – Green Tea. You can purchase it at Costco, Trader Joe’s, and other groceries at around $4 per pack.
BLUEBERRY CREAM DANISH BY BON APPETIT
This is one of basic gas station convenience store products that can often be overlooked. It comes in 9 flavors, but my favorite used to be Blueberry Cream, followed by Cheese Croissant. Every time my boyfriend and I went on long road trips, we’d stop at gas stations to fuel the car and fuel ourselves. Its dough is really soft and the pastries have a good amount of filling that makes the treat moist. The only thing is that sometimes you get kind of weird a bit salty bites, I think, it has to do with too much sodium. Pick it up at 7-Eleven, CVS, and many other convenient/drug store for about $2.
SKILLET CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE AT CHILI’S
This dessert used to be a real addiction for me. Chili’s is a chain of casual dining restaurants in the U.S. I remember getting many free dessert offers in my email, and I just couldn’t resist it. I tried all of their desserts, but my ultimate favorite was Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie. It’s an oven-baked chocolate chip cookie that has vanilla ice-cream on top and is drizzled with hot fudge. It tastes fantastic, but beware – 1 serving has 1,420 calories, 115 g of sugar, and very little nutritional value. It is crazy! I even feel a little bad for mentioning such a terribly unhealthy food item on this website, but I must include this addiction because of its phenomenal taste. Get it at Chili’s for $5.99.
That’s it! I’ve listed 5 unbelievably luscious desserts that blew my mind – Talenti’s gelato, Kinder’s chocolate, Mikawaya’s mochi ice-cream, Bon Appetit’s Danish pastry, and Chili’s chocolate chip cookie based dessert. These are the best desserts in my life that I used to be obsessed with because of their divine taste. Again, they are very unhealthy. However, in case you’ve decided to have a cheat meal and you’re looking for treats, I want you to choose the most delicious way to satisfy your cravings.
